Company background
TOPIC was incorporated in February 2000 as a joint venture between Toumi Group, Bouricha Group and two professionals under the trading name of Tunisian Offshore&onshore Petroleum and Industrial Contractors S.A.
The company was created in the context of a very likely long term rebound in oil prices. It was assigned as a positioning in the upstream O&G contracting activities and more specifically the development of marginal fields owned by others.
In 2001, TOPIC acquired 15% interests (30% working interest) in the onshore “JELMA” exploration bloc operated at that moment by “Hydrocarbures Tunise Corporation” an affiliate company of the Swedish E&P Company PA Resources (holding 70% of working interests). HTC share was recently acquired by ETAP.
Between 2005 and 2006, TOPIC has acquired from OMV its 100% interest in the offshore concession “HALK EL MENZEL”.
At the end of the year 2006, TOPIC has been awarded 50% interests (100% working interests) in the onshore “DOULEB WEST” prospecting bloc. The remaining 50% interests in the bloc was owned by the National Oil and gas company ETAP.
It was then relinquished in 2011.
On 27th March 2012 TOPIC has been awarded 50% of the prospecting rights on the “Mateur” prospecting permit. The remaining 50% interests in the block are owned by the National Oil and gas Company ETAP.
It was then relinquished in 2015.
In late 2012, TOPIC has acquired from Lundin its 43.75% interest in the offshore concession “ZELFA”. The remaining 56.25% interest are owned by ETAP (30%), Sinochem/Atlantis (22.75%) and Klabsuba (3.5%).
