History
The TOUMI GROUP, founded by the late Mr Mohamed TOUMI, is a family owned conglomerates of small to medium size companies, established in Tunisia, with wide ranging interests from onshore land development to offshore oilfield support services.
Native of KERKENNAH Islands, the late Mr Mohamed TOUMI is a self made man who has always been familiar with marine activities.
After finishing his employee life as the union leader of the salt fields of SFAX in early fifties, Late Mr Mohamed TOUMI started his business-man life as a freelance sponge detector on a sponge diving boat and then became a fishing boat owner.
During the sixties, he started all sorts of marine services ranging from dredging to mooring service at “LA SKHIRA” terminal, from fishing to fish processing (freezing, drying…), from diving to ship building and from stevedoring to marine agency.
It’s in the seventies that he started to structure his activities into companies to beneficiate from the incentives implemented at that time to encourage the private initiative and from that time focused on three main orientations:

Between the mid eighties and the mid nineties, the late Mr Mohamed TOUMI focus was on the development of the 100% owned family businesses PCBM (Produits congelés du bassin Méditerranée), and SOTRIM (Société des travaux industriels et de manutention).
Like many other family businesses under the pressure of the smallness of the Tunisian market and the incentives for reinvestment through the creation of new dedicated companies, and with their highly specialised and qualified employees, global diversification, financial strength and operational efficiencies TOUMI GROUP has become a conglomerate of small and medium size companies articulated around the main core knowledge MARINE & ENERGY SERVICES.
To sustain the development of the business in the Oil & Gas sector, create more opportunities and properly manage these interests, the family has acquired majority interests in SAROST S.A. during its privatisation in 1998.
